Self-Rescue Skills Course

$225.00

Self-rescue is a term we apply to a skill set that help climbers navigate challenging situations on the wall. Some examples could be hauling a climber past a small crux while belaying from above, helping an injured party descend, navigating a damaged rope or unsafe rock conditions discovered mid route. Our self-rescue course was designed to be an introduction to essential technical tools and skills needed to problem solve on the fly and conduct a self-rescue.

Topics include:

Risk Management, and Incident Prevention and Preparation

Equipment Selection and Use

Knots and Hitches for self rescue

Haul Systems

Belay Transfer and Escape

Descending and Ascending a rope

Hauling a climber from below and above

Passing a knot

Bailing from a climb

Scenario practice with qualified supervision

Students in this course should have a solid understanding of all of the topics covered in our Advanced Top Rope course. It is also recommended that students pursue a wilderness medicine course (topics not covered in this course).

We are happy to spend a few minutes on the phone discussing if this course is right for you.
